A Concert of Excellence✨

On the evening of March 22, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia hosted a Concert of Excellence in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center. Carroll students performed in multiple All Catholic groups, including the concert band, jazz band, chorus, and orchestra. The night opened with several performances in the lobby outside of the concert hall by the Archdiocesan elementary and high school jazz bands, as well as a show choir. Soon afterwards, over 500 students played and sung the National Anthem in the hall. The band members then performed, exhibiting many different styles in their playing, ranging from a methodic march to freer jazz components. The Carroll students who played in the concert band included Finbar Byrne, Kathleen Carpenter, Mike Cristinzio, Julia Lundeen, Conor Quinn, and Stephen Smith.

The Archdiocesan elementary choruses, band, and orchestra also performed multiple pieces that the audience could recognize. The high school chorus then sang a few selections with beautiful harmonies, creating a unique and angelic sound. Carroll students Mike Conwell, Finbar Byrne, Samantha DiCarlo, Jessica Doorly, Molly Dorsey, Julia Giuffrida, Brenna Fiore, Charlie Harrison, and Mike Walczak sang in this chorus!

At the end of the night, the All Catholic Orchestra took to the stage, showcasing exciting pieces that accelerated in speed and utilized percussion. The orchestra members who represented Carroll included Kathleen Carpenter, Suzanne Carpenter, Joe O'Brien, and Stephen Smith. Before the concert concluded, all of the music groups reconvened and performed "I Hear America Singing." Once the song had finished, all of the students received a thunderous applause from the audience. Ultimately, the concert proved to be an unforgettable experience for both the performers and those who attended.
