Carroll50 Events Weekend

In August 2013, Mr. Frank Fox took office as the President of Archbishop John Carroll High School. Over the first year of his presidency, he worked with countless individuals to devise his plan to bring Archbishop Carroll High School into the present age in educating the future leaders of the world. That plan, Carroll50, has taken hold of Carroll and is the source of many of the advancements school staff and administration have made over the past five years.

This past weekend, the year-long Carroll50 celebration came to a close with the Carroll50 Anniversary Weekend. On Saturday evening, present and former faculty, staff, administration, and alumni gathered on campus for an evening of celebration. Dinner and dancing, as well as reliving memories from the past fifty years was the talk of the night. Chico’s Vibe added to the evening showcasing their musical talents and bringing Carroll supporters, young and old to the dance floor.

The following afternoon, Sunday Mass was celebrated in the schools auditorium marked the official closing of Archbishop Carroll’s 50th Anniversary. His Excellency, Bishop Michael J. Fitzgerald, was the principal celebrant and homilist for the Liturgy. A number of religious sisters and and brothers, who once ran the day to day operations of the school, joined in the celebration through their active participation the Mass. Numerous priests from the Archdiocese joined Bishop Fitzgerald and served as concelebrants for the Mass. These included Fr. Bill Donovan ‘77; Monsignor Bernard Trinity, Carroll’s founding principal; and Fr. Michael Speziale, director of campus ministry. Beautiful music was prepared and shared by Archbishop Carroll’s Chorus program, under the direction of Mr. Jeremy Triplett. The music prepared greatly enhanced the liturgy. President Frank Fox offered, in his closing remarks, sincere thanks to all who played a part in the Eucharistic Celebration as well as those who played a role in the entirely of the Carroll50 Initiative. Following Mass, there was a reception in the renovated gym offering a final opportunity for those who had not returned to the school since their high school days to go on a tour and catch up with old teachers and friends.

The Archbishop Carroll 50th Anniversary Weekend proved to be a success. The hundreds of visitors who arrived on campus all throughout the weekend proved visible signs of the true community that Archbishop Carroll High school is, and will continue to be. Happy Birthday, Carroll! Here’s to another 50 years!
